Rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum) is a perennial plant that is grown for its edible stalks. The plant has large, fleshy rhizomes, which are underground stems or roots. These rhizomes are the part of the plant that can be divided and replanted to propagate new rhubarb plants. Its flower are reddish pink or white and its rhizome is quite thick. It is widely used in herbal medicines. However only roots of the plants are used to make herbal remedies not the stem or leaves. Since leaves of this plant are poisonous and should also not be eaten by animals. So be aware else the use of leaves can leads you toward kidney failure.
