Overview

Myrica Esculenta, commonly known as the Bayberry or Box Myrtle, is a species of flowering plant native to the Himalayan region, particularly found in the foothills of the Himalayas. Myrica esculenta is a medium-sized evergreen shrub or small tree that can grow up to 15 meters tall. It has dark green, leathery leaves that are aromatic when crushed. The plant produces small, round, waxy fruits that are typically reddish-brown in color.In traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda, various parts of the Myrica esculenta plant, including the fruits, leaves, and bark, are used for their medicinal properties. They are believed to have astringent, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties and are used to treat ailments such as diarrhea, dysentery, respiratory disorders, and skin diseases.
